Student opportunities and activities
At Curl Curl North Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Participation in sports programs at Curl Curl North Public School promotes physical health and fitness among students. Through spoken arts programs, students enhance their verbal and written communication skills. Participation in public speaking and debating helps develop critical thinking and persuasion abilities. These activities boost students’ confidence in presenting ideas and encourage a lifelong love of literature and language.
- Public speaking with possible opportunities to represent CCNPS at the inter-school Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition, Bear Pit Public Speaking Competition or the Northern Beaches Eisteddfod.
- Debating clubs with possible opportunities to represent CCNPS in the Australian National Virtual Debating Competition
Student leadership programs at Curl Curl North Public School provide valuable opportunities for students to develop important skills such as confidence, responsibility, communication, and teamwork. By taking on leadership roles, students learn to represent their peers, contribute to decision-making processes, and take initiative in organising school events and activities. - Whole grade Year 5 Leadership Day facilitated by external provider Unleashing Personal Potential
- Nomination and application processes for School Captains, Vice Captains, and Prefects to represent the school throughout the year and leading weekly school assemblies
- Nomination and application processes for House Captains and Prefects to lead their houses in sporting and school events
- Student Representative Council (SRC) comprising two students from each class in Years 2 to 6 who meet fortnightly
- The Peer Support Program involves students working in mixed-age groups led by a Year 6 student and a Year 5 co-leader, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where older students mentor younger peers, promoting positive relationships, social skills, and a strong sense of community across year levels.
The various clubs and activities offered support the development of problem-solving and logical thinking skills. Environment and Sustainability

Cultural and Language Activities
Our students enjoy coming together to celebrate cultural activities like Harmony Day and NAIDOC Week. These experiences help them appreciate diversity, build respect for different cultures, and understand the importance of community and inclusivity. They also look forward to learning AUSLAN during assemblies, which helps them communicate in new ways and connect with others.
