A year at our school

Kindergarten Transition

A strong transition program is vital for ensuring that students entering Kindergarten feel welcomed, confident, and prepared for their new educational journey. At Curl Curl North Public School, we prioritise this crucial phase by inviting incoming students to participate in engaging activities throughout the year before they start school. Our program includes three Coffee and Play sessions, where families can connect and children can socialise in a relaxed environment, fostering a sense of community. The Teddy Bear's Picnic adds a fun, whimsical touch, encouraging children to bring their favourite stuffed animals and enjoy a morning of play and friendship. Additionally, two classroom visits allow students to become familiar with their new learning environment, and engage in hands-on activities. Together, these experiences help ease the transition to school, build resilience, and lay the foundation for a successful and joyful start to their educational journey.

School Carnivals

At Curl Curl North Public School, the excitement of competition and camaraderie shines through as students eagerly participate in three sporting carnivals throughout the year. Kicking off with the Swimming Carnival in Term 1, students dive into a day filled with splashes and cheers, showcasing their skills in the pool. As we transition to Term 2, the Cross Country Carnival takes centre stage, where students embrace the challenge of the course, running side by side and fostering a spirit of perseverance. Finally, in Term 3, the Athletics Carnival brings everyone together for a day of thrilling track and field events, where house spirit is evident as students cheer for their teams. These carnivals not only promote physical fitness but also cultivate a strong sense of community and participation, creating lasting memories and friendships among students.

Assemblies

At Curl Curl North, we implement an incentive-based award system known as Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) to celebrate our students' achievements. During our weekly assemblies, students receive Bronze awards that acknowledge their accomplishments. In addition, parents are invited to attend our Silver assemblies which are held each term to further honour and celebrate our students’ ongoing efforts and successes. These assemblies foster a culture of encouragement and motivation within our school community.
